Germantown vs. Lowrance Middle

By Toby Taylor | on October 28, 2011 | 2 Comments
Basketball (Boys) Middle School Uncategorized

This was one the preseason most talked about match up, Lowrance vs. Germantown Middle. The game started with Germantown winning the toss and Jacob Ivey getting a quick layup, as Germantown struck first. The first quarter was a battle of the paint, with Jonathon Timmons and Ivey going back and forward trading baskets. Eric Turner (Lowrance) and Darrell Brown (Germantown) did knock down a three in the quarter. The quarter ended with 9-8, with Germantown on top. In the second quarter Germantown managed to stretch the lead to 16-9 at the 2:33 mark. Lowrance pressured the ball with their full-court man defense and forced Germantown to turn the ball over several times. The score at the half was 16-14, Germantown. Germantown was still in control to start the second half. Lowrance started the third quarter flat and Darius Cole picking up a technical foul at 3:33 mark in frustration. Germantown ended the quarter with a 28-23 lead on a buzz beater shot from Jonathan Bins. In the fourth quarter I thought Lowrance would make a run, but it didn’t happen. Germantown wins 42 to 33 in the first match up of the season.

Darrell Brown
scored 14 points. I thought he would have trouble against Tyler Brewer a bigger and strong guard that like to play pressure defense. Brown handled the pressure with ease and directed his team like to true point guard. He scored at key times when his team needed a basket.

Jacob Ivy
controlled the boards, locked down the paint, and contributed 11 points on the victory. He played well against a big center in Timmons. Ivy will be huge for Germantown this season.

Cooper Foreman
was Germantown’s X-factor. Foreman didn’t mind battling the boards with Jacob.  He does all things I like as a Coach, rebounds, protects the ball, and plays good defense. Foreman also shot the ball well from the perimeter.

I’m looking forward to the Germantown vs. Highland Oaks match up.

Yea for German Town Middle School
Looks like they are going to go far in the league. Wish we didn’t live so far away and can’t see all the games.

I think Germantown has a very good chance of making it to the State Championship Game.
